“Today’s ceremony is not the start of something new, it is the continuation and a celebration of the love that Doug and Cindy already share.” As groomsman and officiant, Chris, shared this, all eyes were on the bride and groom, and their tears paid tribute to their love.
Cindy spent the morning getting ready with her whole crew in the hotel meeting room. Her bridesmaids bragged her up, saying that she not only was the greatest friend to each of them, but that she had also gotten each bridesmaid a personalized gift, and paid for them all to have their hair and make up done for the day. They each wore yellow floral robes, to match the yellow and gray theme that Doug and Cindy had chosen, and the first few hours of the day were spent laughing and sharing favorite stories and memories they each had with Cindy. (What a special group!)
Cindy had taken such care to plan out their day, and her close friends and family helped pull off every detail. Even the hotel staff was incredibly gracious and helped coordinate people, transportation, and vendors! I enjoyed getting to know each bridesmaid and friend that I came in contact with, and each one showed only the most care and love for this couple.
Doug and Cindy had opted to do a first look! Doug stood by the river, and with tears in his eyes, said, “I’m ready.” We waved Cindy in, and as she approached, Doug turned around and saw his bride for the first time. He was completely choked up and had no words to say, but barely got out the words “You’re so beautiful.”
The guests arrived and found their way to their seats. The harpist played ‘Clocks’ by Coldplay (and might I add, an INCREDIBLE version!), and the processional started. With much anticipation, Cindy was escorted down the aisle by her father. I watched Doug’s reaction as he saw his bride, and I almost cried myself. (Almost… Okay I did a little bit. But who can blame me!)
In a unique ceremony, that included the bride and groom planting a tree, a groomsmen doubling as the officiant, and tear-filled vows to one another, the bride and groom were pronounced Husband and Wife, and Doug kissed his bride with so much passion!
After the ceremony, the bride and groom took some time to walk together, and take in their day. The guests enjoyed cocktail hour, while the harpist set the tone with some soothing music.
Entering their reception, each member of the wedding party was announced, and finally, the new Mr. and Mrs. made their way to their grand table! Both the Father of the Bride and the Father of the Groom made toasts, along with the Maid of Honor, Best Man, and the bride’s Grandfather, who read aloud a poem that he had written for the specifically for Doug and Cindy. Once again, so much love and support surrounded these two!
It was now time for the newlyweds to share their first dance as husband and wife! What a special moment it was, just look at Doug’s smile!
Between the excellent food, the open bar, the donut tower, and the awesome DJ, the guests enjoyed the rest of the evening dancing and celebrating together.
Doug and Cindy had worked hard to get to this day, and with their closest friends and family by their side, they professed their love for each other, and joined in marriage. By the end of the day, I felt like I had known this family for years, and the bridesmaids became friends. What a loving group of people, and what a special privilege it was to witness the day!
Doug and Cindy, we so much enjoyed working with you both, and we wish you a lifetime of happiness together! Thank you for including us in this awesome celebration of your love! -Bri
