Despite the cloudy sky and the questionable weather forecast, Gregg and Faith had nothing but smiles on their wedding day. And although the rain kept the guests mingling in the barn, it added a touch of romance to the portrait session, as the bride and groom nestled in close under one umbrella. (I’ll take it!)
Signs that read “Gregg and Faith’s Wedding!” guided me from the entrance of the fairgrounds, to the barn where their ceremony was held. I entered into the hustle of the set up crew, the caterers, the friends and family that gathered to help, and in a few minutes, saw how much support surrounded this bride and groom.
As the guests entered, they signed a large photo of Gregg and Faith, and many of them wrote prayers of blessing along with their names. The guests found their seats, and the groom and groomsmen seated the grandparents. Cue the music!
Gregg and his three groomsmen entered and took their place at the front. Next entered each of the bridesmaids, all holding antique lanterns in place of bouquets (which later doubled as the grand table décor!). Then came the flower girls, and as they tossed their blue petals, the bride climbed down from a large truck with her dad’s help, and they proceeded to walk down the aisle together, toward her groom. (Gregg could not hold back tears!)
Faith’s father also happened to be their wedding officiant. He walked them through scriptures of what it looks like to be a husband and wife, prayed for them, and offered his ten commandments for being married. He gave his beautiful daughter away that day, but he told me later that he was so glad to see her marry a godly man that loved her so much.
“You may now kiss your bride!”
We headed outside for our portraits, and being at the Fairgrounds on a drizzly day, we hurried to our spots! But when I turned around to make sure everyone was with us, this is what I saw:
He swooped her right up and carried her around the fields to keep her dress out of the rain and the mud. What a gentleman!
When I held up the umbrella and said “let’s stay out in the rain for a minute!” They weren’t so sure what I was thinking… But I’m thankful that they trusted me, because I think it paid off!
When we returned to the reception, the party was going strong! The bride and groom danced among their close family and friends, under strings of lights. The bride kicked off her shoes, and joined the line dances, taking the lead on many of them! The group formed a circle around Gregg and Faith, and they danced and spun with each other like no one was watching.
To end the night, as they opened the doors to their getaway car, dozens of blue balloons poured out, and the bride and groom shared a romantic kiss as their friends and families watched from afar. There was so much love surrounding this sweet couple, and the love they shared for one another was evident.
Gregg and Faith, thank you for allowing us to capture your special day and share your love story. We wish you all the happiness that marriage can bring, and we look forward to seeing you around this little town from time to time! Congratulations!
